WALK & WRITE THE CAMINO
A writing holiday for your body, mind & spirit.
2 Caminos in 2018 – April & October!

11 DAYS 12 PLACES ONLY! DAILY WRITING SUPPORT
Walk & Write Camino is an adventure writing experience that will lead you through the final 10 days of Spain’s famous Camino pilgrimage.
You will, literally, write your journey home.
A hike along the Camino in northern Spain is one of the world’s great walking experiences. The pace is relaxed, walking 10 ‑ 18 km a day, and you will stay in handpicked hotels and guesthouses.
By completing the final 115kms to Santiago, you will be eligible to receive the official Compostela certificate.

Walk & Write Camino is organized in partnership with UTracks.
On this specially crafted trip, you will experience a series of writing workshops in beautiful villages, forests, farms and cities. At certain junctures along the way, such as gentle streams and open hilltops, in afternoon cafes and iconic village squares, we will stop, rest and write.
You will experience writing about people and local cultures; you’ll gain a wonderful appreciation of the historic significance of the trail; you will have ample opportunity to revel in that beautiful, reflective space that walking offers the pilgrim.
The gates of Galicia will welcome you, as you make your way along the trail to the fabled city of Santiago de Compostela, its famous cathedral the site of the tomb of St James.
Each night you will stay in comfortable 3‑4 star hotels and guesthouses, and enjoy the hospitality of your local hosts.
It’s important to note that the relaxed pace of the walking ensures there is plenty of time for writing and reflection, however you also need to keep in mind that this is a walking trip so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

The great cathedral of Santiago de Compostela will welcome you into the old city.

DO I HAVE TO BE AN EXPERIENCED WRITER?
Absolutely not! Everyone is welcome at Walk & Write holiday writing adventures – new writers, experienced writers, writers who are not yet confident enough to call themselves a writer. Our program is about your individual writing journey.
DOES IT MATTER WHAT KIND OF WRITING I’D LIKE TO DO?
Not at all! Some people will come along with a very clear idea of what they plan to achieve on their writing holiday – they may want to take notes for their novel, plan out a family history, write as the spirit moves them or blog their Camino journey for friends and family at home.
Others may have no idea what they want to write – they know only that the longing to write won’t go away and the thought of starting their project on a writing holiday is an opportunity too good to pass up!
Your writing facilitator Stephanie Dale is skilled and experienced at handling the needs of all writers in the group, regardless of their level of experience or productivity.
DO I NEED A CERTAIN LEVEL OF FITNESS?
Walk & Write Camino is not a difficult walk, although there will be some days that are steeper than others. A good level of basic fitness is required, as you will be walking up to 18 kms a day.
WILL I GET INDIVIDUAL WRITING COACHING?
Yes! That’s the beauty of Walk & Write holiday writing adventures. Your writing facilitator is with you all the way, to answer questions and offer guidance, support and encouragement.
“Today was unbelievable. I sat down by the river to write and couldn’t believe it – it was as if I was in the river and it took me places. My writing just flowed. I no longer even cared if it was ‘good’ or ‘bad’.”
